About Us

At The Community Health Alliance of NYC, we are committed to addressing food insecurity and supporting the well-being of our community. The Brooklyn College Community Fridge is a vital resource that provides free, fresh meals to students experiencing food insecurity on campus.

For almost two years, Brooklyn College has been without a functioning cafeteria, leaving many students without reliable access to meals. The Community Fridge helps to fill this gap, offering fresh food to those in need, free of charge

Our mission is to:

  • Empower Communities to Shape Their Health Outcomes by supporting local voices in identifying health needs and driving initiatives that address them.
  • Foster Innovative, Sustainable Health Solutions through collaboration with diverse stakeholders, including public health professionals, students, and community members, to improve health outcomes across New York City’s five boroughs.
  • Build a Network of Public Health Leaders by connecting and mentoring students and professionals in the field of public health, and creating opportunities for them to engage meaningfully with local communities.
  • Promote Collective Action by supporting initiatives that encourage collaboration, knowledge sharing, and mutual support among individuals and organizations working to address health disparities.
  • Provide Mentorship and Professional Development to the next generation of public health advocates, fostering a culture of growth, leadership, and service.

By uniting individuals, organizations, and communities, we aim to create long-lasting health improvements that are tailored to the unique needs of those we serve. Through action, shared knowledge, and collective empowerment, we strive to build healthier, more resilient communities across New York City.
